We are currently looking for four dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team in a rural nursing home/home for the aged. As a PSW, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to our residents. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive hourly wage of $23.50, and you will be expected to work 30 to 40 hours per week. Key Responsibilities:
- Supply and empty bedpans.
- Take patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Serve meal trays and assist with feeding patients.
- Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients as needed.
- Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments.
- Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms in a clean and comfortable condition.
- Supervise and assist patients with their exercise routines.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Bathe, dress, and groom patients.
- Assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, as well as cleaning, sterilizing, and repairing equipment.
- Transport patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
- Respond to call signals promptly.
- Collect specimens for testing.
Qualifications for :
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
- Candidates must pass a criminal record check and provide immunization records and a tuberculosis test.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle the pressure.
- Attention to detail is crucial in this role.
- You will be required to stand for extended periods and engage in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- The job may involve weight handling of up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
